This week was outstanding! In Math we continued our Fraction Unit. This week we learned about fractions and sets. We did two fun activities, one using our name and one using M+M's. Each activity practiced finding fractions of a set. The best part was eating the M+M's when we finished! We have our first group of "Mad Minute Stars" who have colored each scoop of their Mad Minute cones up to 10. They will get to have lunch and ice cream with Miss Saburro. The rest of us are working hard to get up to our 10's. In Reading we began to learn about making inferences. We began the unit by looking at a picture of the inside of a house and had to use clues in the picture to make inferences about the family who lived there. We had to back up our inferences with reasons. In Writing we finished our chapters for our Informational pieces. We conferenced with Miss Saburro and are going to begin revising and editing next week. In Social Studies we made maps of China. We used yarn to show the rivers, glitter for the desserts, fettuccine for the Great Wall and chocolate chips for the mountain ranges. Our maps came out awesome!
